Books formerly housed at the Placer County Archives are now at the Loomis Library.
Holdings are world-wide with emphasis on the United States, including immigration indexes, military indexes, and colonial-era research. The collection also includes research guides, atlases, surname dictionaries, and books on heraldry & peerage.
The Local History section holds resources for Placer County research, provided in partnership with the Loomis Basin Historical Society.

Located inside the LDS Church building, the FamilySearch Center is open to the public free of charge.
Holdings are world-wide, including a large collection of Placer County records.
Online collections available include AmericanAncestors, Ancestry, ArkivDigital, FindMyPast, FamilySearch, Fold3, and MyHeritage.
FamilySearch Centers are also located in Nevada City, Placerville and Sacramento.

The Placer County Archive is the official repository for historic records generated by the County of Placer since 1851. In addition to government records, holdings include photographs, maps, oral histories, newspapers, and private manuscripts.
Ancestry.com-Library Edition is available on computers at all branches of the Placer County Library.
Branches are located in Auburn, Colfax, Foresthill, Granite Bay, Kings Beach, Rocklin, and Tahoe City.
